2023 PYO Patriots Program and Tryout Information

The Pisgah Youth Organization continues to serve the local youth in our community as it has for over 50 years. In an effort to provide a balanced sports program, PYO launched a Select Baseball Program in 2010 fielding its first Patriot Team. In 2022, PYO fielded 19 Patriot Teams.

As an organization, PYO realizes that many of our members want their child playing select baseball. With the PYO Patriots program in place, many of our skilled players remain within the organization. PYO's goal is simple: If you're going to play select baseball, why not do it with the organization that you already belong to.

Please consider allowing your child to tryout for a 2023 Patriot Team to play next Spring/Summer. Select/travel baseball is not for everyone. The time, talent and costs related can be considerably more than the traditional, local teams that PYO has fielded for many years. Patriot teams generally consist of 12 players. Most teams will begin with FallBall then off-season training in early January and play approx a 30-40 game schedule. Playing time is not guaranteed. The Patriot team's play to win and represent the most talented players that each coach assembles. The total costs vary by team, but are generally in the $750+ range.

Players may not have their birthday prior to May 1 of the current year. (I.e.: A player’s age on April 30 of the current season is the official age).

2022 PYO Midsummer Classic (June 30 - July 3, 2022)

Apr 4 2022

The Mid-Summer Classic Tournament will be held June 30 to July 3, 2022 and is open to Knothole Teams, Recreational Teams, Baseball Organizations’ All-Star Teams, Little League Teams, American or Continental SWOL/MWOL Teams or other leagues. This Tournament is not open to SWOL National League and Mid-West Ohio Division 1 Teams and/or players or alike. Player Birthday cutoff is as of May 1st. Games will be played at the Pisgah Youth Organization’s  Complex or at nearby fields.

A non-refundable $100 Deposit is required with the completed Registration Form to hold your spot in the Tournament. Registration Fees for the Age Divisions are due as follows:  8U to 12U --- Paid in full by April 30th = $350, Paid in Full after April 30th = $400. 7U teams subtract $100 from the above fees structure. 13U to 17U teams add $100 to the above fee structure. Registration is first come, first in. There will be a $125 gate/parking fee for all teams paid with the Registration Fees before the first game is played. Game Balls and Umpire fees are provided.

Each age bracket in the Tournament will have a Pool Play format to determine the seeding for a single elimination Championship Round. In the Championship Round, the #1 seeded team will play the #4 seeded team (of the Championship qualifying teams) even if they come from the same pool. Consolation Games will be scheduled if necessary. If there are less or more than 8 teams available in a division the Tournament Director will adjust the format of play at his discretion to best suit the circumstances. Age brackets may be combined at the discretion of Tournament Director if there are insufficient teams in an age division (not likely). There will be Champion and Runner-Up RINGS presented on-field immediately after the Championship Game for each age bracket.

Our plan is for teams to play Thursday June 30th and/or Friday July 1st starting at 4pm with the remaining Pool games played on Saturday July 2nd. The top finishers will advance to Sunday’s Championship Round. If we are unable to play scheduled games due to inclement weather, the Tournament Director will determine and communicate the best possible solution based on the timing of the inclement weather and or the circumstances.  Rules and other Tournament Details can be found below or at www.pyobaseball.org.

About  PYO

Since June of 1959, Pisgah Youth Organization (PYO) has been providing recreational and educational Baseball and Softball to the West Chester community.  PYO could not have existed for this long without the dedication and support from the immeasurable member support, volunteer efforts, and business community sponsorship.

As we celebrate its 60 years of existence, over the years, the organization recognized seven people by dedicating a PYO Baseball Field, naming it in their honor.  These folks epitomize the kind of dedication to the organization required to keep PYO running. They have individually worked, for over 15 years, mostly behind the scenes, to keep the organization financially fit, the grounds fit for play, and our children competitively fit by ensuring a solid inter-community program existed.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Pisgah Youth Organization are:

1.)  To establish and provide activities as deemed appropriate for the development of youth.
2.)  To promote and teach youth:  sportsmanship, leadership, and integrity.
3.)  To promote cooperation with other organizations and communities who are interested in competing in youth activities.

In an effort to provide a balanced sports program, PYO launched a Select Baseball Program in 2010 fielding its first Patriot Team. In 2022, PYO will field 17 Patriot Teams, who compete at multiple age level and levels of play:  American, National, D1/D2, AA/AAA and Open.  Most PYO Patriot teams compete in the Southwest Ohio League (SWOL), which is the largest nationally affiliated, youth baseball league in the country.  PYO Patriots travel teams and/or tournament teams affliate with CABA, AABC, USSSA, Nations, Pony, NABF, and many other local and regional tournament providers.

As an organization, PYO realizes that many of our members want their child playing select and travel baseball.
